ROXBURY CEMETERY
VETERAN MEMORIAL PAGE
During the Revolutionary War, General George Washington’s headquarters and troops occupied the forest nearby what is now Roxbury Cemetery in Stamford, Connecticut. Before the war was over and won, many courageous men found their final resting place at Roxbury Cemetery. Some lay forgotten, their graves unmarked, their names forever lost to history.
From Independence through Civil War war, and every major conflict since, many brave American soldiers have come to rest at Roxbury Cemetery. A walk through Roxbury is a walk through history, and a reminder of sacrifices made in the name of freedom.
We invite you below to watch a video of the 2014 Annual Memorial Day Service held at Roxbury Cemetery, presided over by Pastor John Revell of Stamford Baptist Church.
